TIPS FOR A SMOOTH CLOSING

Getting ready to close on your new home

Checklist to complete before closing

  • Order final gas and electric bills

  • Cancel cable or Satellite TV

  • Notify post office of change of address

  • Leave home only after moving truck has left

  • Collect and organize all appliance manuals

  • Complete walk through of home to make sure nothing is left behind.

  • Turn off lights. Close and lock all doors and windows

What to bring and Expect at closing

  • All keys and garage door openers

  • Drivers license or other photo ID

  • Make sure to change your voter registry at your new home

  • Contact the sanitation company to find which day garbage is collected

  • Closing typically lasts an hour or less taking place at a closing company. You'll sign several documents, turn over keys to the new owners, and you'll take your check to the bank!
